To download the Adobe Reader go to www.adobe.com, and follow the downloading instructions.

When you are asked where the downloaded file is to be saved,

  • choose DESKTOP, so that you can easily find the icon after the transfer is completed.

Then the transfer occurs. Then

  • click on CLOSE; then
  • go to Desktop, double click on the new Adobe icon, and follow instructions as the Reader installs itself.

All this happens pretty quickly if you have cable access to the internet, slowly if you depend on a dial-up modem. It is worth doing anyway: PDF is used increasingly often, and you are sure to need its Reader sooner or later.

The Reader must be properly installed on your computer. Some users have had difficulties downloading texts, and the trouble went away when they UNinstalled their Adobe Reader and did a fresh download of it and a new installation.
